Defend the Mortgage Industry Contribute to CAMB's Legislative Fund.

To my fellow CAMB brokers,

Mortgage brokers really are under attack! Because of the unconscionable behavior of a relative few greedy players in the industry, from Main Street to Wall Street, we are getting hammered in the press and in the halls of government. Lawmakers are responding to the cries of self-appointed consumer advocate groups whose biases come out of seeing only the victims of predatory practices and none of the millions of homeowners who have been helped by honest, professional brokers. Loan products and long-standing, pro-borrower industry practices could be taken off the table.

CAMB is fighting back! Working day and night, with our partners from NAMB, but for our California agenda, Ed Smith and Lesli Gooch, Ph.D. (CAMB federal advocate) have made friends out of adversaries, and supporters out of friends. Members of Congress who wanted to ban YSP outright now understand its value to consumers. High cost state status and FHA modernization have passed the House and are being considered in the Senate, and CAMB is there to educate legislators about the value and urgency of passage of these measures.

CAMB needs your help! Fighting a battle like this costs money! Our Government Affairs Team is funded by direct solicitations at the annual Legislative Rally at Convention and at Legislative rallies around the state. But that's not enough. We need everyone to pitch in to help preserve our ability to support the American Dream of Homeownership. Support the industry that supports you--reach into your pocket or purse and give what you can. $10 to $1,000, or more, it will all help.

And you have my word as President of this Association, all monies raised will go to our Government Affairs effort, and none to CAMB's general fund, or anything else! You can make a difference!

Pete Ogilvie, CMC
CAMB President
